While it is true that there is no cure for psoriasis, yet, I have been able to get rid of 100% of it’s effects on my and my life. I do still pray for a psoriasis cure, but I don’t let it affect my life in a negative way anymore.
My case is very bad. Over 80% of the skin on my body is affected by psoriasis and the discolorations are uneven. This means that the blotchiness and colors are uneven. Basically, the effect that the disease has on my skin is much worse than it is for many.
I can’t describe in words how difficult living with this disease has been for me and how much it has held me back in so many areas of life. I really don’t want to get too much into it, I just want to say that I was very lonely in every sense of the word.
One day, while at work, a co-worker asked me about my condition. No one had ever asked me about it before. Not many people had talked to me period because I was so shy. I was so caught off guard that I just started telling him everything about the disease and how it has affected me. The poor guy! He was just asking a simple question and ended up listening to some crazy woman rant!
Well, it was so freeing to just talk about it to someone. I had been hiding from it my whole life. I was afraid to let on that I was even aware of it’s presence. This caused me to totally isolate myself from the rest of society. Once I had this new mindset, everything got easier and I would recognize it publicly, to co-workers, family and the few friends that I had made.
I made more friends, started doing things with them in public, and even went on a date. The man who asked me out was the same man who asked me about it at work. I now call him my husband!
